Our Story

Hometown Kids Dental was founded with a simple but meaningful vision—to create a place where children feel safe, valued, and even excited about their dental care. From the very beginning, the goal has been to make every visit a positive experience for both children and their families. The story behind that vision began years before the practice itself. Dr. Casey Gooch and Dr. Jordan Taylor shared a unique connection—they both served missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Louisiana-Baton Rouge Mission, though at different times. That shared experience helped shape many of the values they would later carry into their lives and careers: service, compassion, patience, and a genuine love for people.
Years later, their paths continued along similar lines through dentistry. They attended the same dental school each pursuing their own journey into the profession. After dental school, their paths crossed again in Joplin, Missouri. Though they worked at different offices, their friendship grew during that time, along with a shared desire to eventually build something of their own. Through conversations and shared experiences, they realized they had the same vision for what a dental practice could and should be. They didn’t just want to open a dental office—they wanted to build something different. They envisioned a place where children wouldn’t feel fear walking through the door, where parents felt heard and supported, and where kindness and trust were just as important as clinical excellence. They shared a deep belief that pediatric dental care should focus on the whole child—creating positive experiences that last a lifetime. That shared vision became the foundation of Hometown Kids Dental. Dr. Taylor, a board-certified pediatric dentist, brought an extraordinary gift for connecting with children. He had a way of turning fear into confidence, helping even the most nervous child feel at ease. His warmth, kindness, and ability to make every child feel special helped shape the heart of this practice. In June 2025, during the early stages of bringing Hometown Kids Dental to life, we lost Dr. Taylor after his courageous battle with cancer. His passing was a profound loss—not only as a co-founder, but as a dear friend, partner, and someone who meant so much to everyone who knew him. While his absence is deeply felt, his presence is still very much a part of this office. Every detail—from the environment we’ve created to the way we care for our patients—reflects the vision Dr. Taylor and Dr. Gooch built together. It lives on in the laughter of children in our chairs, in the trust of the families we serve, and in the commitment to making every child feel safe and valued. Today, we are honored to carry that vision forward. Hometown Kids Dental is more than a dental office—it is a reflection of a shared purpose, a lasting friendship, and a legacy of compassion that continues in every smile we care for. Dr. Taylor will always be a cherished part of our story. 1988-2025

In Loving Memory of Dr. Jordan Taylor –

Co-Founder, Hometown Kids Dental

Dr. Jordan Taylor was a beloved co-founder of Hometown Kids Dental and played an instrumental role in shaping the warm, welcoming environment that defines our practice today. His vision was simple yet powerful—to create a place where children feel safe, comfortable, and even excited to visit the dentist. That vision continues to guide everything we do.

Raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, Dr. Taylor served a church mission in Louisiana before attending the University of Utah for his undergraduate studies. He went on to earn his dental degree from the Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health in Mesa, Arizona.

Early in his career, Dr. Taylor practiced in a small town in East Texas, where he discovered his true passion: helping children overcome fear and leave the dental office with confidence and a smile. This experience led him to pursue specialized training in pediatric dentistry. He completed his residency at NYU Langone Pediatric Dental Residency in Springfield, Missouri, and became a board-certified pediatric dentist.

Dr. Taylor had a deep love for the outdoors, shaped by a childhood spent exploring and adventuring. He cherished summers with his grandmother in eastern Oklahoma and enjoyed fishing, whittling, and time spent in nature. Above all, he treasured time with his wife, Kelli, and their three children, creating lasting memories through family adventures.

Dr. Taylor was known for his kindness, compassion, and genuine care for every child he treated. His ability to connect with children and put them at ease left a lasting impact on countless families.

In June 2025, during the early development of Hometown Kids Dental, we lost Dr. Taylor after his courageous battle with cancer. His passing was a profound loss—one felt deeply by all who knew and loved him.

Though Dr. Taylor is no longer with us, his legacy lives on through the patients he cared for, the families he touched, and the foundation he helped build at Hometown Kids Dental. We are honored to carry forward his mission and will always remember him.

His influence will continue to be felt in every smile we care for.

Dr. Casey Gooch

Dr. Gooch is a co-founder of Hometown Kids Dental and has focused his entire career on children’s dental needs, combining clinical expertise with a gentle, kid-friendly approach that puts young patients – and their parents – at ease. With years of experience treating children of all ages, Dr. Gooch believes that every child deserves a positive, fun and fear-free dental experience. He especially enjoys helping his young patients face up to challenges in the chair overcoming the sometimes extreme effects of dental anxiety.

After serving a two-year mission in Louisiana for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Dr. Gooch returned home and played football for Eastern Arizona College, where he learned the value of discipline, teamwork and perseverance. After earning a bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University, he went on to build a successful business career but over time felt a deeper calling to serve others in a more hands-on, personal way. With determination and faith, Dr. Gooch made the bold decision to return to school later in life to pursue dentistry – a path that perfectly combined his love for working with people, his desire to make a difference and his natural ability to connect with kids. He earned his dental degree as well as a certificate in Public Health from The Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health at A.T. Still University and has since focused his entire practice on treating children with kindness, patience and skill.

Known for his friendly approach and calm demeanor, Dr. Gooch makes it a priority to connect with each child and build trusting relationships with families. Whether it’s a first checkup, a gentle filling, or simply helping a nervous child smile again, he treats every patient like one of his own.

Outside the office, Dr. Gooch enjoys spending time with his wife and six children, cooking or smoking yummy food, traveling to fun locations with his family, and being involved in his community and church.
